Our values
The school's principles are Christian with most of the staff having Protestant inspiration. Without imposing their convictions on the children, this common faith infuses the life and integrity of the school.
How is the Christian faith embodied in the school?
We believe that a neutral teacher doesn't exist. Everyone teaches with all that they are and believe and imparts more than merely academic knowledge.
Rather than believing in the possibility of neutrality, we prefer to engage in a formation that develops a real capacity for dialogue, where every individual is free, but able to formulate what they believe or not, and why. Our education is toward developing the capacity in each student to acutely listen to issues of deep differences and oppositions, meanwhile cultivating a climate of confidence in which to communicate authentically and articulately.
Concretely, the Christian aspect of the school is expressed in the context of a biblical history lesson, within the spontaneous natural life of school. We will celebrate the important days of the calendar, such as Christmas and Easter.
The school is open to all families, regardless of their cultural or religious back ground, if they accept the environment the school proposes. The parents are recognized as the first educators of their child. Our intent is to build a relation of mutual confidence with them, and to encourage and empower them in their role of education and transmission.
Listening
Listening will be encouraged:
- Listening to everyone: children, parents, staff;
- Attentive listening to understand what everyone thinks and believes;
- Listening capable of bearing with deep differences and oppositions
Respect
Everyone will be respected as a thinking and believing being, on a journey. Everyone will be encouraged to express themselves without constraint. This will enable growing in self-confidence and becoming trustworthy to others.
Trust
We aim to develop mutual trust in all relationships within the educational community, understanding that relationships are not dictated but built. educational community, en comprenant que les relations ne se décrètent pas mais se construisent.
Dialog
Learning will not happen in a vacuum or in isolation, we need others to learn and understand. It will happen in dialogue with:
- Knowledge constructed and recognized by others;
- People who have different thoughts on the same subject.
Reflection
We encourage reflection to open a creative path on the issues that matter to us: environmental issues, building community living (in France and internationally), caring for others as for oneself...
Creativity
We want to nurture each child’s creativity, in whichever domain they express it. Our world is richer and more alive, when beauty and innovation spring up from the inside out.
The child as a person
Every child will be welcomed and respected as a person:
- Whose worth depends on their dignity as a human being, and not on their success
- A person who has a body, a soul, and a spirit: all three dimensions need to be nurtured to mature well
Transmission
We are committed to encouraging parents in their role of education and transmission to their child.
Consistency between thought, words, and actions
We will encourage intentional commitments so that words find their strength.
The implementation of these values will be deepened, nuanced, and invented over time and thanks to the relationships with parents and children.
